What is a gender scan?
A gender scan is a private ultrasound scan from 14 weeks of pregnancy that shows whether you are having a boy or a girl. At Meet Your Miracle it costs £75, takes about 10 minutes and includes a well-being check, a print and digital copies of your images and mini movies.

Where is the Tamworth studio and is there parking?
Meet Your Miracle Tamworth is at MYM Tamworth, Tamworth, B78 1HS. Parking is available close to the studio. Parents also come to us from Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield, Burton upon Trent, Atherstone.
How early can you find out the gender with a scan?
From 14 weeks. Before then the genitals have not developed enough to see reliably on ultrasound, so we do not offer gender scans earlier. If you want to know sooner, our early gender blood test works from 6 weeks of pregnancy.
How accurate is a gender scan?
From 14 weeks our sonographers can usually see the gender clearly. No ultrasound gender check is completely certain, because it depends on baby’s position and on how far along you are. If we cannot see clearly we will tell you rather than guess, and you get a free re-scan.
Can I keep the gender a secret for a reveal party?
Yes. Tell us when you arrive and the sonographer will keep it off the screen and seal the result in an envelope. The gender reveal scan adds a gendered image, a reveal item of your choice and team pink or team blue wristbands.
What does the well-being check include?
The sonographer sees and measures baby’s heartbeat and observes baby’s movements, and you receive a standard well-being report by email with your images. It is not a diagnostic scan. If we see something we think needs NHS follow-up we will tell you and make the referral.
Do I need a full bladder?
No. A full bladder is only needed for scans before 12 weeks, when it helps lift the uterus for an abdominal scan. For a gender scan from 14 weeks, come as you are. Drinking a little extra water in the days before, and having a snack a couple of hours before, can help baby be active.
What happens if baby’s position hides the gender?
We will ask you to have a walk and a cold drink and try again during your appointment. If we still cannot see, you get a free re-scan at one of our set weekday re-scan times within 10 working days. Re-scans are offered at the sonographer’s discretion and one re-scan is included.
Do you scan twins?
Yes. The twins gender scan is £95 and the twins gender reveal scan £125, both with 20 minutes of scan time so each baby gets a proper look. You can book a standard 10-minute scan for twins, but if time runs out a re-scan cannot be offered.
How long will my appointment last?
Allow 30 to 45 minutes in the studio. The scan itself is 10 minutes (20 minutes for twins), then you choose your images. If baby is being shy we may ask you to have a walk or a bounce on our birth ball and try again. Please arrive 10 minutes early: if you are late we may not be able to see you.
Can I bring family or children?
Yes. Family, friends and children are welcome. Every studio has a large scan room with an HD projector screen, seating for six and standing room.
Is a private ultrasound scan safe?
Ultrasound has been used in pregnancy for decades and, despite extensive studies, has not been shown to cause harm to mum or baby. Our scans work on the same principles as your hospital 2D scan, and our scanning team follows the same safety guidelines.
Does this replace my NHS scans?
No. Our scans are elective, non-diagnostic scans for bonding and well-being. They supplement your NHS care and do not replace your NHS 12-week and 20-week scans. If we see something on the scan that we think needs NHS follow-up we will tell you openly and make the referral.
What if I need to cancel or move my appointment?
You can move your appointment free of charge if you call the studio more than 24 hours before it. Cancellations more than 24 hours before are refunded minus a £5 admin charge. Within 24 hours the payment is lost, because the slot cannot be resold.
Do you scan anyone under 18?
No. Our CQC registration does not cover scanning anyone under 18, so we cannot offer scans to under-18s.
