First Trimester Screening and the NIPT
Through the NHS, you may have had a 'first trimester screening', also known as the 'combined test'. Although the first trimester screening is different, the results can be used in conjunction with your NIPT when calculating your results.
The Concepto NIPT test calculates the ‘chance’ of the presence of trisomys; by default, ‘chance’ is calculated by combining the blood screening with the maternal and gestational ages. If you have the results of a first trimester screening, these results can be used instead of the default calculations for trisomys 21, 18 and 13.
Simply provide us with these results at your appointment.
Understanding Your Results
High Chance
If the result outcome states 'high chance', this indicates that your baby may have one of the conditions that the Future Health NIPT identifies. The nature of the detected aneuploidy will be identified on the report. The NIPT won't tell you if your baby definitely has one of more of these conditions, however the report can be shared with your maternity provider to explore if any further tests are needed.
Low Chance
If the result outcome states 'low chance', this indicates that your baby is not displaying any of the chromosomal aneuploidies screened for, and a diagnosis for them is unlikely.
The latest clinical performance data including the positive predictive values (PPV), sensitivity and specificity is available from Yourgene Health.
Results come straight from the clinic now, And if a high result is detected they will assign a counsellor to relay the results and provide a report for NHS
Genetic Counselling Service
Some expectant parents will receive unexpected news from their results. To support these parents-to-be, we offer a complimentary genetic counselling service which your healthcare professional will direct you to.

How Does It Work?
You can book your bloods to be taken anytime from 6 weeks of pregnancy. We would recommend a reassurance scan prior to the test to ensure you are at least 6 weeks pregnant as results can be inconclusive if you are too early and we are afraid no refund can be provided in this case.
Important: This test is not the same product that can be purchased online and completed at home. The test uses only venus blood taken directly from your arm (not a finger prick)
