Purpose of Scan Packages

The primary purpose of the scan packages offered by Meet Your Miracle (MYM) is to provide an opportunity for bonding with your baby and to offer cherished keepsakes. These scans are intended to confirm the presence of the baby’s heartbeat, observe fetal movements, and determine the baby's gender (where possible). After confirming these elements and capturing necessary measurements, you will have the opportunity to listen to your baby’s heartbeat. You will be provided with a report summarising the findings. Additional services such as gender determination and 4D imaging are provided as part of our comprehensive scan packages.

Your Health and Age Restrictions

You confirm that you are in good health and there are no known reasons to avoid the scan. MYM is only registered to scan adults; individuals under 18 years old cannot be scanned.

Image Quality

The quality of ultrasound images depends on various factors including the baby's position and maternal factors. MYM staff will explain what can be achieved during your scan and will discuss any reasons for unclear images. Please feel free to ask questions during your scan. Please understand that not all images will be clear and refunds cannot be provided if satisfactory images or gender determination are not obtained.

Scan Limitations

Our ultrasound scans are non-diagnostic and are intended for non-medical purposes only. The scans can confirm the presence of a heartbeat and date the pregnancy provided it is at least 7 weeks at the time of the scan. Please note that no ultrasound gender determination is 100% accurate and earlier determinations carry a higher risk of inaccuracy.

Safety and Guidelines

I understand that the scan follows the National Institute of Clinical Excellence guidelines for frequency (sound waves) and length of scan, which has found no detrimental effects in 40 years of case studies. However, the British Medical Ultrasound Society does not recommend ultrasound for non-medical purposes.

Antenatal Care

This ultrasound is supplementary and not a substitute for medical or diagnostic scans. Our staff, including our qualified radiographers, are not tasked with or responsible for diagnosing health issues and will not be acting in a diagnostic capacity. They may not be suitably qualified or trained to identify any health concerns and cannot be relied upon to do so. You are encouraged to take your scan images to your next medical appointment and discuss any findings with your medical professional/midwife/General Practitioner.

Consent for Procedure

The scan procedure involves lying on your back while MYM staff applies gel on your abdomen and passes a small device backwards and forwards over the skin. High frequency sound is beamed through your abdomen to your womb. The sound is reflected back and creates an image which is shown on a screen. This procedure is similar to descriptions on the NHS website (www.NHS.uk) but is non-diagnostic in nature. By signing this document, you consent to undergo this procedure. You may request the scan to stop at any time. A chaperone is available to attend as required if you do not have anyone with you.

Permissions

I give permission for MYM to post or use any photos or recorded data for advertisement purposes. I understand no names will be posted or used with the images. If MYM staff notice something that they believe should be considered by a medical professional, they may advise me to seek medical advice. However, they will not be able to discuss the nature of any concerns with me due to the limitations of their role. I authorise MYM to contact any medical professional involved in my ongoing care and provide information obtained during my scan if the health of mother or baby is of any concern. I understand that MYM will not follow up on any concerns, and that this will be entirely my responsibility and/or that of my medical professional.

General Disclaimer and Permissions

MYM aims to provide a memorable experience without offering medical advice or diagnosis. You permit MYM to use any photos or data for advertising purposes and understand that any significant findings will be communicated, but detailed discussions are not within the MYM staff’s scope.

Liability and Professional Negligence Claims

By agreeing to this waiver, you understand that MYM scans are for non-medical purposes and do not include diagnostic evaluations. The detection or reporting of health concerns does not form part of this service, our duty of care to you or the standard of care that can be expected from us or our staff. You waive any right to pursue claims against MYM (Professional Antenatal Services Ltd), including errors in gender determination.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellations within 24 hours of your appointment will result in a loss of payment. Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance may be eligible for a refund minus a small administrative fee. No refunds will be provided if the scan does not yield images or if the baby is not visible due to early gestation.

Acknowledgement

By signing this document, you acknowledge understanding the contents and agree to the terms outlined. You release MYM from any claims related to the services provided as permitted by law.

Waiver and Release of Claims

In signing this document you agree to waive, release, acquit, and forever discharge MYM (Professional Antenatal Services Ltd) from any and all claims, expenses, demands, costs, causes of action, and other actions and liabilities, of any nature whatsoever, whether known or unknown, whether in law or equity, that I or my baby may have arising out of or in any way related to the services provided, to the extent permitted by law. Consequently, I agree that I shall not have the right to file any lawsuit, claim, or institute any other legal proceedings of any type arising out of or in any way related to the services purchased.
